Booking, payment and cancellation policy

  • How do I book a room?

    You can book a room through our webpage and pay with your credit card. If you need any assistance you can always send us an e-mail to [email protected] or call us +354 517 5353.

  • Do you accept Euros?

    No, unfortunately not. We accept payments by card or cash in Icelandic krona (ISK).


    There is a bank at Stykkishólmur if you need to change Euros to ISK. It´s within 3 minutes walking distance from Sjávarborg.

  • Cancellation policy?

    For the unlikely case that you want to cancel your stay at Sjávarborg, our cancellation policies will apply. Read more about our terms and conditions here.

Amenities

  • Is there free WI-FI at Sjávarborg?

    Yes, there is free high speed WI-FI in all rooms and in all communal areas.

  • Do you have a kitchen where we can cook?

    Yes, we have a well equipped kitchen where guests can prepare their own food. Bring your wine and beer and when you run out of it you can go to our Cafe Sjávarborg

  • Do you have a common frigde?

    Yes, downstairs in the kitchen.

  • Are towels provided?

    Towels are provided in private rooms. For guests in dorms, they are available for rent (500 ISK).

  • Does the main door close at night?

    The door closes at 10PM but you can always go out and come in using your card in the side door.

  • Do you rent bicycles?

    Yes, we rent out bicycles to Sjávarborg guests and it’s great way to see Stykkishólmur.

Check-in and check-out

  • At what time is check-in?

    Check-in time: 4PM-10PM. After 10PM we charge a 2000 ISK as a Late Fee

  • At what time is check-out?

    Check-out time: 8:00AM-10:00AM.

  • Is early check-in possible?

    If the room is ready when you arrive early check-in is of course available.

  • Is late check-out possible?

    We will do our best to make late check-out possible when requested. Please contact us and we will see if it is possible.

  • Do you have a parking space?

    Yes, free parking is both in front of hostel and behind.

  • Where is Sjávarborg located?

    Sjávarborg  is located in a small town in West Iceland, called Stykkishólmur. See Google maps.


    We are 2 hours away from Reykjavík and 3 hours away from Keflavík international airport.

  • How can I get to Sjávarborg from Reykjavík?

    It takes approximately 2 hours to drive from Reykjavík to Sjávarborg.

    To get here you can either rent a car or take the public bus.

  • How can I get to Sjávarborg from Keflavík International airport?

    It takes approximately 3 hours to drive from Keflavík airport to Sjávarborg.

    To get to Sjávarborg you can either rent a car and drive on your own or take the Flybus to Reykjavík and from there take the public bus.

  • Can we see Northern Lights from Sjávarborg?

    Yes, if you have your luck and they appear in the sky.


    We recommend going out for a walk and walk to Súgandisey, 3 min away. Great place to search for the northern lights!

  • Do you have a common washing machine?

    Yes, you can wash your clothes with detergent for 800 ISK.
